Started a YouTube Channel

05/26/2021

Well I know I haven't been blogging in the past few months, so here's an update on what I've been up to!

Earlier in the year I decided to shift most of my energy and time from blogging into building my YouTube channel. I'm pleased to report it is up and running and on a steady growth. It's something that's been on my mind for awhile, and the pandemic became the final catalyst to get it going.

My band purchased recording equipment back in the beginning of 2020, so we were in the process of getting the rehearsal room rigged up even before everything shut down. A good amount of the year was learning and fine tuning our recording setup, especially the drums. Through a lot of trial and error, the room is pretty well dialed in, so I've been off to the races making videos.

I wanted to create a sorta indexed set of lessons that can be accessed by anyone interested. So I created multiple playlists which I think has a wide enough net to offer something for everyone. Some lessons are more suited for immediate players while others focus on beginners, however the musical concepts and techniques are the same no matter what. The goal is to make my video lessons interesting enough for seasoned players without being too intimidating for beginners.

Here's some of the playlists

Spicing up the Groove - adding small elements into your playing to give your groove a little more flavor

Working the Hands - sticking exercises to really fine tune your hands

Coordination - getting each limb to work independently and together

There's more I'm working on, trying lots of ideas out, not entirely sure where it'll go.  So stay tuned!
