Lessons

NYC is one of the most diverse cities in the world.  My goal is to curate every lesson for each student based on music taste, experience, and how you learn.

It's ok if you've never picked up an instrument in your life.  I'm confident that with some commitment, time and effort, you WILL see improvements in your playing and eventually play those songs you've always wanted to learn. Any if you've been playing for years and feel like your playing has plateaued, I can help unlock new skills and take your playing to the next level.

Questions?

How often should I take lessons?

Most of my students take on WEEKLY lessons, which is what I recommend. If you'd like more or less, I'm happy to work with your schedule and availability!

I've never played an instrument, will this be too hard?

The unique thing about playing drums is that you can make it as simple or complex as you like.  It can certainly be challenging at times, but you might be surprised how quickly you'll be able to keep a beat going and eventually play songs.

Am I too old to learn drums?

No.

Do I need to buy a drum kit?

Yes, but not right away.  I know we all live in tiny boxes here in NYC, so there's some obvious constraints.  The more important thing to purchase first is a practice pad and pair of sticks.  Spending time just on the pad is critical in developing solid technique.  You might then consider renting time at an hourly practice space.  There are several places around the city that have rooms with full kits you can use.  For those that have space in your apartment, a quieter option are electronic drum kits.

I've been playing for years, what can I learn from private lessons?

A lot of drummers, including myself, can develop certain habits that may not be the best technique.  Having another set of eyes and ears might shine a spotlight on little things that are holding you back from getting to the next level.

How do payments work?

I kindly ask that lesson payments are paid monthly on the first week of each month based on the number of lessons you'd like.  I accept Zelle, Venmo, Paypal or cash.

What if I need to cancel a lesson?

If you need to cancel a lesson for any reason I require 24 hours notice and I will do my best to reschedule. If notice of cancellation is given less than 24 hours, unfortunately I will still need to charge for the lesson.

What is your availability?

I try to keep a flexible schedule for all my students.  I'm available weekdays during the day into the evening as well as Sundays.  Saturdays are the only days I don't teach...even drummers need a day off!

Do you offer in-home lessons?

Yes, please message me for rate and availability. I do have to charge more for travel lessons.
